Rakesh Paul is loving his negative avatar in Jhilmil Sitaaron Ka Aangan Hoga

Rakesh Paul
Rakesh Paul, who is currently seen as Pratap Babu in Rajshri Productions’Jhilmil Sitaaron Ka Aangan Hoga, is completely in love with his character. He plays the negative role of Pratap, the eldest son-in-law of the Raichand family, and he is also very close to his mother-in-law, Kalyani Devi (Sudha Chandran). “I am one of the most stylish villains on screen today. There are characters that turn negative and there are others who are negative but hide the fact. But Pratap has come across as a bad man right from day one. He is the Ravan of this show (laughs). Yet he is very stylish in his own way,” shares Rakesh who has also acted in Rajshri Productions’ Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki. He further continues, “I am lucky to get a show where the male characters play the bahus. Since in the Raichand family the grooms come to the house after marrying the girls of this family. We are almost like the bahus. In fact, I always tell Sudha ji (Chandran) that we are her bahus. So the focus is mostly on me as I am the negative bahu while Akash (Pankaj Singh Tiwari) is the positive one.” Rakesh is happy that he is getting to play more than just “yet another man on screen” as when other actors just get to say a few lines, even his reactions get captured. “Now, that’s the power of my character.” In fact, Rakesh’s character is so negative that his maid servant hates him. “Hate is appreciation of my work. I am playing a negative character and only if I play it well will people hate me. So I think the response has been good so far.” Talking about working with Sahara One, he states, “I enjoy working with Sahara One as they always have a bank and you have 15 days of your month free to do other projects. Hence, I am all relaxed.” At the personal front, the actor likes to spend time on Facebook. “FB can never be a waste of time as my small little updates have bagged me two projects. I am writing a script for two producers and they approached me through FB.” Ask him if he is planning to write a poetry book like his brother Rajeev Paul someday, and he answers, “We are two different people. I am nothing but simple, nice and beautiful like him. I have a different style of writing and I call it crazy humour.” Continue with your good work, Rakesh.
