Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund And Abhishek Bachchan’s Ludo to release on the digital platform?

According to latest reports, the makers of Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund, directed by Nagraj Manjule, and Anurag Basu's Ludo, starring Abhishek Bachchan, are planning to release the films on the digital platform.

MUMBAI: The Coronavirus pandemic has been drastically affecting the country currently, resulting in a nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of the deadly virus. Amidst all that, the theatrical release of many films has been delayed, forcing makers to take the digital route. After reports of Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo makers planning to release the film on the OTT space first, reportedly, the makers of Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund and Abhishek Bachchan’s Ludo are also planning for a release on an OTT platform.

According to reports, as many medium-budget films are considering a direct OTT platform release, T-Series is currently in the final stages of sealing a multi-release deal with Netflix as per sources. The source revealed that the studio has eight to ten films that are close to the finish line and mentioned that while the head honchos are in talks with Netflix, Amazon Prime and other OTT platforms for a direct-to-web release, the conversation with Netflix has highly developed. The source went on to share that Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund directed by Nagraj Manjule and Anurag Basu's Ludo, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s movies are in discussion.

The source also went on to mention that as the studio is a joint producer on some Bollywood projects, the consent of both parties will only lead to a development in the decision. The source added, 'For instance, they have co-produced Kiara Advani-starrer Indoo Ki Jawani with Nikkhil Advani. So, both parties must be willing to do away with a theatrical release, and must agree on the money.' Finally, the source also went on to disclose that currently, the team is choosing films that it thinks has a better outlook digitally and is currently busy seeking approvals from all the co-producers related to the projects.

Meanwhile, with the makers of several Bollywood films planning to release movies on the OTT space first, we wonder if and how it will affect the collection.
