MUMBAI: Mohammad Shami, who is a popular cricketer, has an impressive fan following. He is an integral part of Indian national cricket team and impressed fans with his skills. He is one of the best fast bowlers of the current generation. 

The dedicated cricket player has a whopping two million followers on Instagram. Shami, who made his international debut for India in the third One-Day International of the series against Pakistan in January 2013 in Delhi, not just entertains fans with his cricket skills but also interesting social media posts. He shared some delightful and positive posts during this lockdown period. 

As we all follow the lockdown rules, let’s sit for a while with a cup of tea and take a look at some of the lesser-known facts about the talented cricketer. 

1. Shami originally hails from Sahaspur village in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. However, he plays for Bengal in domestic cricket.

2. Shami’s father Tousif Ali realized his son’s talent early and supported him to follow his passion. Tousif Ali took his son to Moradabad, a city 22 km away from his village and introduced him to Badruddin Siddique. He asked him to train his son who was 15-year-old then. 

3. He is also known as a reverse swing specialist. But do you know how he became so? Well, he used to follow an approach. According to reports, he used to take old red balls from the organisers and shine it on one side. He used to practice with that ball to sharpen his reverse swinging skills.

4. When Shami debuted for India, he was known as Shami Ahmed. However, later it got revealed that his original name is Mohammed Shami

5 Apart from cricket, he also loves sketching. During this lockdown period, he showcased his artistic side. He has shared a couple of videos wherein he can be seen sketching. Take a look.
