MUMBAI: Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay is a film that will probably never lose its significance! The iconic film still amazes film buffs. Those who watch it for the first time also falls in love with its narrative and those who have already watched it do not mind to watch it again. Virender Sehwag is also fond of this film. 

But did you know the former Indian cricketer has a connection with Sholay?

Yes, he does have a connection and it’s interesting. 

Well, one of his nicknames is Viru and the film too has a character named Veeru.   

For the uninitiated, Sholay tells the story about two criminals, Veeru and Jai, played by Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan respectively. 

According to an old media report, when Virender was asked by one of his fans about his favourite Bollywood film, he had wittily replied, “My favourite movie is Sholey! Kyunki usmein bhi Viru tha”.
