MUMBAI: Akshay Oberoi's new web series Illegal began streaming on Voot Select from May 12. The actor plays a layered character in the legal drama, which also stars Piyush Mishra, Neha Sharma, and Kubbra Sait.
In a media interaction, Ashay Oberoi spoke about his role and how the digital boom gave his career a new lease of life.
Speaking about his character in Illegal the actor said that his character name is Akshay, who is a corporate lawyer. They don't really focus on the back story, but Neha and he have a romantic angle. But he is also married. What he really liked about the character when he read the script is that people could relate to it. It's a layered character. What you see his character going through with his mother or father, those are how real relationships are. You actually see his emotional journey through the show. He also says that he really enjoyed that.

On speaking about the preparation of the role, the actor said that he watched the show Suits, and Harvey Specter was the reference point for his character. What I kind of picked from that was people who are a money-making machine in a corporate structure, walk with a certain confidence. He sort of stole that walk from Harvey Specter. He is in an ultra-comfort zone when he walks into a room and starts talking. He might be wrong, but to him, he is right. He really worked on how to walk, how straight his back is and it added up to how this character turned out to be.
