Sooni Taraporewala gives you immense freedom as an actor, says Filmmaker Takesh Singh

MUMBAI: Takesh Singh, an Actor and Filmmaker, who has acted in projects like Mission Mangal, Selection Day, The Tashkent Files, Manto, and many others recently, had the honor to work with Sooni Taraporewala, the screenwriter of films like The Namesake and Salaam Bombay. Sooni directed the Netflix original film “Yeh Ballet” in which Takesh is playing a role. During the shooting Sooni used to joke with Takesh that his bearded look reminded her son of a character from Game of Thrones.

On talking about the experience of working with Sooni, Takesh expressed, that “she is a dream to work with. She gives you immense freedom to perform and is extremely clear about what she wants from the character which is a great help for any actor. Sooni has a calm demeanour and if something didn’t work with her she would point it out in a very polite manner. Shooting with her was like a picnic on set and with a leader like Sooni there was amazing positive energy throughout the unit. Playing an upmarket snob, which is very unlike what I am in reality, was something that intrigued me and there was no way I could pass off a chance to work with Sooni Taraporewala. I am very thankful to the team at Tess Joseph Casting for casting me in this gem of a film”, adds Takesh

Takesh Singh is also a Producer and Director. Fresh off the success of Valentine's Day and he produced for Color Plus, Takesh recently directed a short film, Silent Types, in collaboration with leading short film platform Humaramovie. The film has already generated close to 3 lakh organic views in less than 3 weeks. On being asked why he chose to direct this particular film, he commented “The subject is something that is uncannily similar to what has happened to me in the past. Mistaken identity is one of the underlying themes of the film and I have experienced something like was in the story for real. The script also is very funny and intriguing at the same time, and the ending is heartwarming. When the story was narrated to me, it really connected. I knew I had to direct this”.

Takesh is currently working on something exciting which is scheduled to release later this month. A man of many talents who believes that content is the heart of any entertainment project, Takesh loves his work and wears each of his hats as an Actor, Producer, and Director with equal pride and passion. When asked about the current scenario Takesh says “Nowadays with digital content, web series and direct to digital films the viewing dynamics of the audience is changing. However the audience is very intelligent and we need to constantly focus on churning out high concept unique stories so as to keep our audience constantly engaged.”
