Chit-chat with Divyanka Tripathi

Divyanka Tripathi wants to return to social drama. This cute girl had deliberately taken the comic route after Banoo Main Teri Dulhann with Mrs & Mr Sharma Allahabadwale and Chintu Chinki Aur Ek Badi Si Love Story (SAB TV) to try something different. But now she wants to get back to playing the positive lead in a hard hitting daily soap. “However, I want the creative to think of out of box plots for me. I don’t want to play the sweet crying girl, been there done that types. I can do any character which is easy. I just want that chance,” shares Divyanka with Tellychakkar.com.

I don’t want to play the sweet crying girl, been there done that types. I can do any character which is easy. I just want that chance,” shares Divyanka with Tellychakkar.com. Tell her that her comic detour did not succeed and she fires back, “Mrs & Mr Sharma Allahabadwale was not given so much time. The show was yanked off within nine months despite having good TRPs. It became victim of ego hassles between the higher ups. I don’t want to say more than this. As for Chintu Chinki, something works while others don’t.” As of now, Divyanka’s tryst with comedy continues in the non-fiction space. “I had entered as a guest along with Rakhi Sawant in Kahani Comedy Circus Ki, but then I loved the fun of live comic punches and decided to stay for the full current season.” But this Optimystix show is known for below the belt type of humour? “I know that hailing from a small town (Bhopal) certain things are not meant for me. I don’t want my chemist father getting embarrassed by my actions. Hence, I have requested my writers to avoid giving me double meaning dialogues. At first I also asked them to avoid making me don short dresses, but that was not possible as the show does require some glamour.” In closing, Divyanka informs us that many young guys are approaching her father for marriage. “But none of them have really impressed my parents and they are also not putting pressure on me to settle down. Today times have changed and a girl can easily wait till 28/29 years before getting into wedlock. Although my parents have given me freedom to choose my guy, I will find the groom who my parents accept as well.”
