MUMBAI: As we collectively work towards emerging from the grips of the worldwide pandemic, Zee TV – India’s leading Hindi general entertainment channel recognizes the amazing power of music in uniting, healing and uplifting the mood of the nation. In fact, ever since its inception 25 years ago, the channel’s longest-running non-fiction franchise – Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has leveraged this power of music in helping the common man rise above his circumstances – giving him the country’s most definitive platform to showcase his singing talent. It is only befitting, then, that with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa crossing its 25-year milestone in 2020, Zee TV is coming up with an industry-first initiative, Ek Desh Ek Raag, a fund-raising concert to help humanity cope better with the testing times through the power of music. ‘Ek Desh Ek Raag’ will start on 23rd May with a 25-hour Music Marathon on digital. The 25 Year milestone will culminate in a grand concert on 24th May, 7 PM onwards in 10 languages across 19 ZEE channels with the most iconic faces of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa singing from the confines of their homes.
The Ek Desh Ek Raag concert will witness some of the top legends of the music industry including Shaan, Richa Sharma, Javed Ali, Himesh Reshammiya and Udit Narayan come together for a memorable night of music and friendly banter. In the midst of some powerful performances, we will also get a chance to see what our favourite singers are up to during this lockdown. While we will see Himesh and Udit ji talking about helping their families with household chores, Richa Sharma has apparently spoken about her new hobby that has kept her going during the lockdown. Calling her new hobby as her new “love”, the singer opened up about how she has been bitten by the acting bug.
Richa Sharma also showed off her acting talent and told everyone to beware as she might just take a Bollywood plunge pretty soon. In fact to prove her lockdown acting skills, Richa delivered a famous dialogue with a twist. She said “Ek sanitiser ki boond ki kimaat tum kya jaano ramesh babu?” in full filmy style. A surprised Shaan also gave a witty response and said, "Wahh wahh, Richa ji ye kya hogaya aapko? Last maine aapko dekha tha tab aap singer thi. Main jaanta hu aap ab bhi singer hai, but saath saath, ye acting ka bukhar kab chadh gaya?" To which Richa revealed, "Ye bukhar mujhe Lockdown ne diya hai aur ye mera new found love hai!"
Well, we are sure their filmy banter will crack up the audience. Apart from such hilarious conversations, viewers will witness some delightful acts that will surely uplift their mood. Talking about the Ek Desh Ek Raag initiative, Richa Sharma mentioned, “Being associated with a show as iconic as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has been a real joyride for me. I must add that even though I joined as a judge in 2018, I've been associated with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa as a guest judge on the show at different points for the last 15 years and I really feel a part of the rich legacy of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa which has truly helped the Indian music industry thrive. I’m just glad I can be a part of this prestigious event and help uplift the mood of the nation through its fund raising initiative Ek Desh Ek Raag during this lockdown.”
