MUMBAI: Netflix’s next Indian original after Betaal might just be Ravi Patel’s Netflix-commissioned series, ‘Messy’. And the latest news, as per reports in the media, is that Swara Bhasker is the lead of Messy, along with Ravi Patel himself.
The streaming giant had announced in 2019 that it has ordered the series Messy from creator Patel. It follows an aspiring female stand-up comic, as she struggles to make a career in stand-up while juggling a taxing job with a boorish boss, over-meddling parents and a complicated love life.
The show, which also has Ravi Patel starring as co-actor with Swara, is co-written with Neel Shah. Co-producers include David Bernad and Ruben Fleischer’s The District and Seher Aly Latif and Shivani Saran’s Mutant Films.
Ravi Patel is the U.S. based creator of Meet The Patels, a well-received movie in the West. Messy has apparently completed production and is now in post-production.
The official logline for Messy on Netflix reads, 'A single 20-something juggles her buttoned-up boss, persistent parents and knotty love life while finding a voice in Mumbai’s stand-up comedy scene.'
