Sushant Singh Rajput brilliantly essayed the titular role in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and also went through a lot of training to prepare for the role. He had portrayed it with such excellence; we cannot imagine anyone else playing the role in the film. However, Akshay Kumar had been keen on taking up the role and according to India Today, Akshay had revealed in an interview that he had asked director Neeraj Pandey to consider him. However, the director politely refused.
Apparently, he was refused because Akshay Kumar did not look like Dhoni, and hence, would perhaps not have been the apt choice for the role. M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story did well at the box-office, and went on to collect over Rs 133 crore.
