Speaking to TOI, Kamya said, “I did not tell her on the spot. First Shalabh started coming home, then we started talking over the phone and I told him he is mamma's friend. She started talking to him and then we started going on movies, we bribed them with a few gifts also (laughs). Slowly, the friendship happened and she began to understand. Then we started going on holidays and I began saying to her that, even I want someone to take care of me like how I take care of you.”

“My mom also started feeding her. She would tell her that if your mamma has someone to look after her I won't have to worry. So, Araa understood that yes now Shalabh uncle is there for mama. Slowly, we broke the ice. Then suddenly, one day I told her, I am getting married, what will you wear? She was very excited about the wedding and she could see I was very happy. She is 10 years old and she is very understanding,” she added.

In the same interview, Kamya also revealed that after her breakup with boyfriend Karan Patel, she had undergone counseling after she slipped into depression.
