" One doesn't have to be talented to be on television these days"

She plays the quintessential mother with a trademark bindi , kohl eyes and colourful sarees. But better known as Savita Chachi in Kyunki…..besides she having been a part of shows like Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka and many Gujrati serials and plays. Apara Mehta has played the quessential mother-in-law to many a shows. Kavita Shyam spoke to the lovely lady on life after Kyunki.... Now that your track in Kyunki…has got over how do you feel? Well, I have been working since 1997 continuously for 20 hours without any breaks. These days I am concentrating on my theatre work which gets me to travel all over the country. There was a time when I'd catch the first flight to Gujrat for my plays and then be back to Mumbai for my shows. I will have a few nice flashbacks with Tulsi in between so that is something which will happen. So would you miss shooting for Kyunki…? I surely will miss them. My daughter is worried as to what I will do at home the whole day. She is used to not having me around the whole day for so many years. My family wants me to take care of my health now. So I will start going to the gym or go for walks and get back to shape. Besides I am planning to throw a party for my team members soon to thank them for everything that has gone into making Savita a success. So you can get more time for yourself and look after your daughter and husband? Well, my daughter has literally grown up on the sets. She knows each and every member of my Kyunki…team. In fact few years back when my daughter was giving her tenth and twelfth standard board exams I was very much involved in her studies and asked my directors to co-ordinate my shooting timings with her exam timings. So like any other parent I have been trying to juggle my work and family life. What next for you in terms of work? I am looking forward to some good work. Sadly today, you don't really have to be a good actor or be extremely talented to be on television. I don't know what they look at while casting a person for a role or what exactly works.
