For Talat Aziz, Jhalak was "something new" and he "enjoyed the experience"

Talat Aziz, the Ustaad of Ghazal singing for more than three decades, making it to the dance floor of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 6 was kind of a surprise. But this gifted singer was there and he put in all his efforts to rock the dance floor but they remained futile as he was the first one to get eliminated from the house. But, not looking at the darker side of the Jhalak episode, Talat looks at the brighter side as he talks about his journey in the show.

“It was something new and I enjoyed being a part of it. Though it wasn’t easy”, says the singer who has also tried his hand at acting in television serials. However his elimination from this TV reality show did come as a shock to him as he says, “I knew somebody had to go but I was shocked and sad when I learnt that it was me. I liked what I did and so did people who knew me but then I was eliminated.” So, does this mean that the judges have not been fair? “You cannot comment on their decision. I did what I can and it’s nice that I got eliminated at the first place as there are younger contestants on the show who need to perform. But there are a few who are trained dancers like Isha Sharvani and Darsheel Safari who will obviously perform better.” But since the show is about non-dancers, is it fair to take trained dancers? “Well I am nobody to comment on that.” Moving further, is his family okay with him getting eliminated? “My family is very cool. They were happy about the fact that I participated and I got a chance to perform.” So will you continue dancing? “I am not sure about it as I have a lot of performances (singing) lined up”, says the busy artiste. And Talat will be in touch with his choreographer Ankita Maity. “She is very young, vivacious and a bundle of ideas. In fact, I loved the way she choreographed every song keeping my personality in mind. She knew I couldn’t have done a hip-hop as it wouldn’t have suited me, hence we did more of Jaaz.” Talking about his co-contestants he says, “We had become like one big family and I was surprised to receive text messages from each one of them after my eliminations to tell me that they would miss me.” After a little pause, he adds, “I think everybody is improving now as the last episode that I saw was very good. And if they continue performing like this, the competition will get very tough.” “Isha and Darsheel are trained dancers and Sanath (Jaysuriya) is a cricketer so I understand dancing is tough for him. But for Susheel Kumar, his smile works and Ravi Kissen is an old friend but he is trying hard as he has never done these dance forms earlier. Last I saw him doing Tango which is not at all easy. They are raising the bar and the contestants are living up to it”, says the performer. He continues, “Bharti (Singh) was a surprise as I never expected her to dance with that body and Jayati Bhatia has been very good on the show. They are all working very hard.” So who does he see as the winner? “It’s difficult to comment anything at this stage but I’d like to wish them all the best.” Talat had mentioned in one of the interviews that he’d take up more reality shows if they come his way; hence we asked him if he had been offered any more reality shows to which he replied, “No I haven’t been offered anything yet, but I would definitely want to do a music-related reality show as a judge”, he ends.
