"Shanno Ki Shaadi is like picnic for me!"

Divya Dutta seems to have a very laid back attitude as far as Shanno Ki Shaadi is concerned. Contrary to the intense roles that she usually does in films, this accomplished actor seems to be having a whale of a time enacting the simpleton Shanno. Although one might find her attitude of disregarding television as a medium of growth a trifle disconcerting, her dedication to Shanno is beyond any doubt! Divya Dutta spoke to Riya V Anandwala about her life and career.

Although one might find her attitude of disregarding television as a medium of growth a trifle disconcerting, her dedication to Shanno is beyond any doubt! Divya Dutta spoke to Riya V Anandwala about her life and career. It has been around five months that Shanno Ki Shaadi is on air followed by average ratings, do you think the series is shaping up as per your expectations? Shanno had a jhatka start. It is definitely catching on, and people are loving it. I feel gradual success is better than being over hyped. I have been traveling a lot off late, and the kind of response I have received is pretty good. It kind of surprises me, as it has a late time slot. Do you think the average ratings are a result of the time slot? No, I don't see it as a problem at all Will the show witness any changes if it turns daily? No, I don't think there would have been any difference at all. So are you planning to take on any weekly or daily? Not at all, with much on my plate, I can't afford to. And I am totally against dailies! Thinking too hard! Tell us something about your movies in the pipeline? Oh, there are loads of them. Can you name them? Manish Gupta's Saaheb Chai Pani, RGV's Darwaaza Bandh Rakho, J.P Dutta's Umrao Jaan, Trisha, Gudiya and a few more. How do manage to do television with loads of films in your kitty? I fix up my dates accordingly. I am mostly doing films you see, and as my serial is a biweekly I ask them to adjust a bit, and it works out that way. How much do you see yourself growing as an actor after working in Shanno Ki Shaadi? You don't grow as an actor in television (laughs). For me Shanno.. is like a picnic. It's great fun working here. The chemistry between all the actors is incredible. So do you consider television as a major platform for getting roles in movies? Not really. I do whatever I feel is right. And I don't think it works that way. Shanno gets ready for a shot! Any alluring offers during this show? Yes, quite a few. I was offered many talk shows which were tempting enough, but couldn't take them up. What about Balaji Telefilms? I have had a very good rapport with Balaji. They did offer me good and meaty roles, but because of time constraints, I couldn't take up anything as such. Any plans of real life marriage? (Laughs) God knows! My life has become like Shanno Ki Shaadi, here too I keep asking the production house, when am I going to get married?
