MUMBAI: ‘When Heroes Fly’, an Israeli thriller drama is getting an English adaptation, ‘Echo 3’ from streaming platform Apple TV+.
Apple TV+ has given writer-producer Mark Boal of ‘The Hurt Locker’ and ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ fame the green signal to make a 10 part drama that’ll be in English and Spanish dialogue. The original has been created by Omri Givon and inspired by Amir Gutfreund’s novel.

‘Echo 3’ revolves around a scientist working near the Colombia-Venezuela border who disappears and so her brother and husband who are military veterans go on a journey to find her against the backdrop of complicated and secretive war.
Boal and Jason Horwitch will serve as show-runners and Apple and Keshet Studios will co-produce the show. Keshet Studios’ Peter Traugott will executive produce with Boal, Horwitch, Stan Wlodkowski, Givon, Eitan Mansuri, Jonathan Doweck, Avi Nir (Keshet Media Group), Alon Shtruzman (Keshet International) and Karni Ziv (Keshet Broadcasting).
This is Apple’s second collaboration with Keshet; the two are partnering up for Uma Thurman starrer ‘Suspicion’ based on the Israeli series ‘False Flag’. The streaming platform also has ‘Tehran’ another Israeli spy thriller in the works.
The original Israeli TV series ‘When Heroes Fly’ is available to watch on Netflix meanwhile, the adaptation ‘Echo 3’ will likely have a late 2021 release on Apple TV+.
