MUMBAI : Sayani Gupta and Maanvi Gagroo were recently seen in Amazon Prime Video's 4 More Shots Please! Season 2. The series released during the lockdown and was an instant hit with the viewers. In an event, in a session titled Shot to stardom: The sassy women conquering the streaming space, Sayani Gupta and Maanvi Gagroo spoke about their web series and how playing the same character affects them as actors.
Sayani Gupta and Maanvi Gagroo will reprise their roles as Damini and Siddhi in the third season of 4 More Shots Please!. When asked if the character they play has seeped into them, Maanvi said, "More than the character seeping into you, you get attached to the character. I see that character as someone separate from me. She is like a friend to me and I want good things to happen to her. There is a bit of empathy that you have for your character and that’s what seeps into your personality. I think it’s a little bit of two-way street happening, like you putting a little bit of yourself into the character and borrowing a little from the character into your own."
Sayani wished that a lot of Damini's traits might not have seeped into her, as she wants to have a normal life. "I hope a lot of Damini hasn’t crept into me. I want to have a normal life. As Maanvi said, you get more attached with more time spent with the character. And, you defend the character more fiercely, even when it comes to talking or arguing with the writers or creators. There are certain things you don’t want your character to go through. And you want to sort of always defend the character and empathise with her and make her as strong and real as possible. It’s like your baby and you have to protect it in a certain way," added Sayani.

4 More Shots Please and its stars got a huge response after the second season premiered on Amazon Prime Video. "The first season did really well and none of us was expecting. We hoped people would like it and watch it. But it almost became like a craze. I don’t think any of us experienced anything like that. There are a group of girls who are talking to each other in the lingo of the show. It’s really become like a cultish sort of thing," said Sayani.
Sayani finds it crazy that people have watched 4 More Shots Please! seven-eight times. "Season 2 came during the lockdown and people were looking for more content, and positive, fun stuff. Everyone locked up in their homes wanted to travel, experience friendship and spend time with their loved ones. And, people have watched the show seven-eight times. It’s crazy. We get long letters saying that it changed their lives. You can’t predict these things! You hope for things like these to happen but when they do it’s kind of overwhelming," added Sayani.
For Maanvi, it was surprising that despite the show being so glamorous, the viewers connected to the core value of it. "We all know that the show is glamorous and stylised and maybe at times you miss the point when you get busy with the frills but the beautiful thing is people have connected with the core value of the show," said Maanvi.
