I will miss celebrating Rakshabandhan this year: Alan Kapoor

MUMBAI: Alan Kapoor never thought he would have to spend Rakshabandhan away from his sisters. The Agra-born actor, who plays Angad in the show Pyar Ki Luka Chuppi, has come back from his hometown to Mumbai and has resumed shooting for the show. And since the shooting is happening at a fast pace, this will be the first time that the young actor will not be celebrating Rakshabandhan with his sisters and cousins. His sister is in Germany while his cousins are in Delhi, none of whom he will be able to meet due to the Coronavirus lockdown.

“Rakshabandhan has always been a very warm and special brother-sister celebration day for me since the beginning. I belong to Agra and have a sibling and six cousin sisters. When back in my hometown, all us brothers and sisters used to meet and we would celebrate the festival with so much fun. Even my sisters from Delhi used to travel to Agra to tie the rakhi. When I would be in Mumbai, they used to courier the rakhis and my sister used to tie it on their behalf. I will really miss those besan ke laddoo that teeka lagana and all those exchanging of gifts this time,” says Alan, also seen in shows like Piya Basanti Re, among others.

Missing out on all the love of his sisters this year, the actor says, “Unfortunately this is the first year ever when none of my sisters will be there to tie rakhi to me. It will all be so different. No meetings, no hugs, no fun and masti in person,” says Alan, who will be celebrating the festival virtually with hi sisters. “Iss baar it will be the new age of virtual rakhi. We brothers and sisters have made a plan to do a video meeting or one can say a video-rakhi ceremony where we all come together and enjoy this special day, reminiscing the old days and promise to continue the love and tradition. I guess we will have to make do with the happy memories till we all get an opportunity to get back to our happy personal interaction days,” he adds, getting emotional.
