Trailer Talk: The Babysitter: Killer Queen – The Return Of The Funny Gorefest

Netflix’s slasher comedy The Babysitter is returning with a sequel titled The Babysitter: Killer Queen

MUMBAI: Netflix’s slasher comedy The Babysitter is returning with a sequel titled The Babysitter: Killer Queen next month, and it promises to be just as crazy as the first one. McG returns to the sequel as the director with Zack Schiller and Mary Viola also acting as producers on the project.

The original 2017 movie followed a 12-year old Cole (portrayed by Judah Cole) as he tries to escape from the clutches of a Satanic high school death cult which was headed by his beautiful babysitter Bee (portrayed by Samara Weaving), who he has a major crush on. He eventually survives the ordeal, killing every last one of them in the process, but it’s implied that Bee survives at the end of the movie.

The sequel begins a couple of years later, with Cole struggling to get over his PTSD inducing experiences which no one believes happened. The traumatic experience has made it difficult for him to cope with high-school, with him still missing ‘Killer’ Bee. After much convincing from his best friend Melanie, (Emily Alyn Lind returns to reprise the role) they both go on a trip to a secluded Lake House with their friends to enjoy their weekend. But it quickly turns into a nightmare when all the ‘dead’ cult members return to exact their revenge on Cole.

Bella Thorne, Robbie Amell, Hana Mae Lee, and Andrew Bachelor all return as the members of the cult, this time with supernatural abilities. But Samara Weaving, the main antagonist from the last movie, is noticeably absent in the trailer. But we are teased with her return at the end of the trailer, with a blond woman rising out of the lake facing away from the camera, with her iconic “Cole” line, while the rest of the cult watches.

Andrew Bachelor’s awesomely meta line at the very end “post-Jordan Peele era horror movie progress”, was ridiculously funny. The trailer shows some of the more physical comedy, the first movie is known for, along with a lot of gore.

Jenna Ortega joins the cast as Phoebe who is a classmate of Cole. She helps Cole as his main ally to stop the Satan cult members. She is also the person Cole can dump exposition on (mainly for the people who haven’t watched the first one).

The Babysitter: Killer Queen premiers on Netflix on September 10th 2020.
