20 years of Mohabbatein: The movie which made us believe in the power of Love over Fear

MUMBAI: Directed by Aditya Chopra, Mohabbatein clocks 20 years today, and here is why the movie is so special.

The second directorial venture by Aditya Chopra after DDLJ was Mohabbatein, the movie which was loved for its stellar performances and a great message to the world about love and fear, the cast of the movie itself was majestic when we look behind, it had amazing talents like, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aishwarya Rai.

This movie had five people debuting on the big screen Uday Chopra, Shamita Shetty, Jugal Hansraj, Kim Sharma, Jimmy Shergill, Preeti Jhangiani were launched in leading roles. The film also features Anupam Kher and Archana Puran Singh in supporting roles. 

The movie interpreted different viewpoints of love, with 3 different storylines of 3 students whereas parallelly we see the story of a man who lost his love because of Fear, so in this beautiful journey of love and fear, how love wins and fear losses were perfectly captured in this movie. There are some points which make this movie really special till today especially the dialogues are amazing in this movie and till today, when we listen to them there is always a smile on one’s face, also the songs of the movie were highly appreciated and loved by the fans all over, and till today, Mohabbatein is considered as one of the best music Albums of Bollywood.

The flick mainly is memorable for the casting of two mega superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan who shared the screen space for the very first time.  This makes the movie even more special for movie lovers.

The chemistry between all three leads actors was well designed and every love story was screened perfectly.

A lesser-known fact is that until the movie didn’t release no one knew Aishwarya Rai was a part of the movie as those days social media didn’t exist. The audience was surprised to see her in the movie.

One of the highlights of the movie is the dance between Helen and SRK which is still loved and remembered by the audiences.  How can one forget the symbol of love in this movie which was the autumn leaves which till today symbolize the Mohabbatein leaf’s as an expression of love.  

Well, no doubt whenever we look back at the movie, we all have some nostalgic memories and till today one can watch it on repeat value. It gets the same love and admiration even today.

These factors make the movie even more special even 20 years down the line.
