Choreographer Jai Kumar Nair of Darsheel Safary in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (JDJ)is of the feeling that Rashmi Desai Sandhu has a very strong chance to win this season.
“Though she is not a very good or bad dancer, she is very graceful. And also, the want of a reality show is not just talent, but how much the public loves you as well,“ Jai observes.
Point out that a wild card entry has not won any season of the dance reality show till date to which he replies, “Yes, and if Rashmi does win, it will indeed be a first for the show.” He also thinks that Rithvik Dhanjani is also strong contender for the crown this year.
Here Jai, who is a DID finalist( 2009) and Boogie Woogie winner( 2007), goes against the popular trend and is not a rooter for Isha Sharvani. “She may be very good in particular dance forms but is not versatile which this BBC World Wide format calls for. Recently she could not do well in Bollywood style dance item. It gets a tad monotonous watching her excel only in things such as areal dance etc,” remarks Jai.
The choreographer is also not surprised that Bharti Singh has reached the top 8 level. “This stand-up artiste is very sweet. The pubic loves comedy and even my sister votes for her,” he avers. Ask him about Darsheel’s performance this week to which he replies,“ He is better than many others and it will be quite unfortunate if he does get voted out.”
This is Jai’s second stint in Colors ‘s JDJ (last year he had paired along with Renuka Shahane) has helped him a lot. He has got students from television for his recently started dance academy.
Eliminated contestant Jayati Bhatia has enrolled for his Salsa and Jaaz classes. Jayati has also brought along with her Ssumier S Pasricha, who plays the character of Shailu, the husband of Pari (Shweta Sinha) and elder brother of Prem (Shohaib Ibrahim) in Sasural Simar Ka.
It is Jai’s next wish to choreograph in Bollywood films, “but it is a tough club to enter, for you need lots of influence and I have nothing but just my talent,” he laments.
