MUMBAI: Theatre were shut for around 7 to 8 months all over the nation due to the pandemic and lockdown. Now, a partial unlocking has begun, and theatres were given the permission to open. The very first movie releasing in theatres is Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, which opened on Sunday, 15th November. It stars Fatima Sana Shaikh, Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh, Vijay Raaz, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Bhargava, and Annu Kapoor.
The story of the movie is very fresh and engaging. It speaks about a man who wants to get married, but somehow, his plans are not working out. His marriage gets cancelled every time. Meanwhile, we see a wedding detective who is after every bad boy to save the girl from marrying him. How these two tracks connect is interesting to watch, but it’s a half-baked cake, and the movie in entertaining only in parts.
The screenplay and writing are good in the first half, but in the second half, the story goes in a weird direction and the screenplay is weak at several points. The direction by Abhishek Sharma is decent.

Talking about the performances, it is an out-and-out Manoj Bajpayee show. The actor once again nails it with his performances. It is a treat to see his different looks in the movie, and his comic timing is amazing. Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh was also good and is improving with every movie. He makes us laugh in this one with his acting skills and comic timing. Moreover, Fatima Sana Shaikh was decent in her role. The other cast like Vijay Raaz, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Bhargava, and Annu Kapoor were also good and supported the film well.

The positive points of the movie are the storyline, which is unique, and the performances of the leads, especially Manoj Bajpayee. The songs are also refreshing and manage to light up your mood.
The biggest negative point of the movie is the second half, as the screenplay and the writing in it are average in. You may feel a little bored as well.
Overall, the movie Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is an average family entertainer during this festive season and can be seen at least once.
