Filmmaker Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan to revive ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’ in honour of Sushant Singh Rajput

MUMBAI: ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’ was the project which was supposed to be made with Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, recently Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan the filmmaker revealed that he will revive the dream of SSR as a tribute to the late actor. Talking about the dream project of Sushant where he wanted to merge acting with astronomy, Sanjay confirmed that although couldn’t take off immediately after its announcement in 2017, it isn’t a shelved project. However, he won’t be reviving the project immediately due to the emotional exhaustion from the loss of his close friend Sushant Singh Rajput.

Hoping to put his best, Sanjay during a recent interview also shared that it will be heartbreaking for him to look for Sushant’s replacement for the lead. While he still needs to finish off the script and search for the new lead is still on, Sanjay believes that it isn’t easy for him to cast anyone else in place of Sushant.

Meanwhile, the filmmaker is adamant to retain ‘Chandamama Door Ke’ as a film and not a web series as he believes it is meant only for the big screen.

Talking about his equation with Sushant, he had earlier quoted, “Whatever happened between the producers of that film and him never impacted my equation with him. He was extremely close to me. We used to chat once every few days.”

“I am at a loss of words because it never occurred that he could take such a drastic step. We would keep talking about space and exchange material about it. We had finalised some projects to start off when the lockdown was called off. One didn’t know what was on his mind. He didn’t sound like he had a problem. Sushant was someone I could speak to till the wee hours, and that is what had happened even during our last chat. He was a bright and intelligent guy. Whenever we met, it was always fun talking to him about so many things, including films. He was fond of space as a subject” he added.
