Shritama Mukherjee, who was last seen in Sony Entertainment Television’s Dekha Ek Khwaab said, “From today Durga Puja starts. Here in Mumbai there is not much of celebration but in my hometown, Rajasthan we celebrate this festival with lots of vigor and enthusiasm. We buy new clothes, household things and utensils. We visit the Durga idols and perform puja. On this day I would like to pray God to bless us with good health and happy Mahalaya to all.”
“It’s a coincidence that I have come to Kolkata for same work and I am really glad to be present over here on this day. I am going to enjoy all the activities happening over here. I am planning to wear kurta pajama and visit all Durga idols and perform puja. The feeling in Kolkata is very different. People enjoy this festival with full of energy and thrill, ”shared Rohit Roy.
Ashiesh Roy, who is seen as Suryendar Bharadwaj in Colors TV’s Sasural Simar Ka added, “As per the ritual, I got up early morning at 5am and listened to the chants on the radio channels. My sister has sent me Bengali kurta from Kolkata so I wore that but as I am shooting; I changed my traditional kurta to my Suryendra Bharadwaj’s kurta (laughs). But I miss Kolkata a lot on this day. The ritual and excitement is very different. The ceremony will begin from fifth day of navratri. I will visit all the pandals to seek blessing from Durga ma. It’s good to meet all your Bengali friends and celebrate the festival together. As me and Jayati Bhatia are Bengali so we will get jalebi and rasgulla for everyone on the sets.”
Sumona Chakravarti, who is seen as Natasha Sharma in Sony TV’s Bade Achhe Lagte Hain averred, “Well… we don’t celebrate on great extent as there is no time. But yes the feeling is very good that ma Durga is coming. Four days pass so fast. Every year me and my family go to pandals for darshan and have bhog which is been offered to Durga ma. I have never been to Kolkata during this festival but I will surely go in coming years.”
Lastly… we got in touch with Mouni Roy, who was seen in Devon Ke Dev Mahadev and she said, “First of all a very very happy Mahalaya to all. I start my day by going to temple and seek the blessing from Durga ma and welcome her with open hearts. I wear Indian dress on this day and celebrate the festival with lots of love and bliss and I Miss Kolkata a lot.”
Happy Mahalaya to everyone!!!
