The Girl on the Train Review: A good plot with poor execution

Parineeti Chopra starrer thriller, The Girl on the Train, has finally released on Netflix and here is the full review of the movie.

MUMBAI: The much-awaited thriller The Girl on the Train, which stars Parineeti Chopra, has finally premiered on Netflix. Ever since the trailer was out, there was a lot of anticipation. Based on the trailer, it was said that it would be Parineeti’s one of the best works. Well, in this review, let’s find out how the movie has turned out.

Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, the thriller is based on British author Paula Hawkins' 2015 novel of the same name, and it also stars Aditi Rao Hydari and Kirti Kulhari.

The story of this 120 minutes movie deals with Mira Kapoor, played by Parineeti Chopra, who is an alcoholic and a troubled divorcee who gets embroiled in a murder investigation and how her life changes later on and how she is related to the murder.

The screenplay is poor, or we can say it is quite confusing as at some point the movie is fast-paced and at some point it is slow. However, the direction is decent.

Talking about the performances, Parineeti Chopra indeed will surprise you with her acting in this movie. She has delivered her best and taken the entire responsibility of the movie on her shoulder. On the other hand, Kriti Kulhari and Aditi Rao Hydari were decent on their part.

The positive point of the movie is the plot; the plot will surely attract you. Also, the performance of Parineeti is a treat to watch. And lastly, the twists and turns might help you to keep your interest level up.

There are many negative points of the movie. It has been badly executed. The plot looks interesting but the bad execution and poor screenplay will let your interest down. How the story is being narrated in the present and how it goes back to the past is a little confusing as at some point there are many flashback moments and thrilling elements. The movie looks flat and the inclusion of the songs is unwanted. If every time there is a song, your viewing experience gets disrupted.

Well, having said that, there are more negative points than positive ones. If you have not watched the original movie, you may like this one.
