Actor Smaran Sahu opens up on his experience of working on Bekaaboo 2

MUMBAI: Smaran Sahu, who is best known for his role in the Masaba Gupta-starrer web series Masaba Masaba, is now going to be seen as Inspector Aakash, a raw, rustic, Mumbai top cop with a flair for flamboyance and the utmost commitment to the law of the land. He has a wry, sarcastic sense of humour that reflects in his candour. He is completely disengaged from the world of Bekaaboo and its other characters and hence has a unique perspective towards the psyche of everyone.

"To dive into the shoes of Aakash, I had to approach it with utmost, ruthless, honesty and a lot of times on set, Aakash’s persona had a natural imprint on my own, so much so that the order and prestige that a cop demands was even transferred to me as an actor. I felt the power that the uniform has and all I did was to transfer that subtly into my performance" says Smaran.

Talking about what the web show has in store for the audience, actor Smaran Sahu, went on to say “My director, Aarambhh M Singh and I, constantly dwelled into figuring out all the subtle nuances that the character should exhibit and right from the first table read of the script we both figured a process to be on the same page. First day on set was a scene which had a lot of physicality involved and I’m thankful to my director for his guidance to carve out the “sur” for Aakash. From the get go, we were able to comprehend and give structure to his body language and overall demeanor, and the shoot ahead was smooth sailing with minor tweaks here and there depending upon the requirement of the scene. “

Talking in terms of the team and his experience he says, “I’m thankful for all the rest of the star cast who delivered their performances impeccably and gave me a lot to react to. The project wouldn’t be completed without the hard work and utmost sincerity of all the rest of the crew members who worked tirelessly and, in a way, selflessly even during these restless times of the pandemic.”

"Bekaaboo 2" is billed as a thriller. Directed by Aarambhh M Singh, the series also stars Taher Shabbir, Priya Banerjee, Taaha Shah, Poulomi Das, Tusharr Khanna and Subha Rajput and will be released on Alt Balaji on March 15.
