These are the television actresses who have made their on-screen character's characteristics identifiable through their bizzare yet eye-catching on-screen style statements.

MUMBAI: In almost every Hindi soap operas, the style-statements of individual actors as per the characters they portray on-screen are too unique and deviant from their fellow characters, thus making it unmissable.

As per a character's description and nature, every other aspect relating to that individual including their height, weight, confidence, body language and most importantly, their costumes and make-overs highlight their characteristics and intentions just like a regular person's ID card (P.S. this applies only to the television world's drama section).

Coming back to the topic, till date, every single actor (be it the lead, side, supportive or vamps) have to get themselves ready only and only according to their on-screen character's demands. The peculiarities in make-up are vital as they have to be in sync with the character's nature, role, societal position, activities, intentions and also, their personal/ professional backgrounds. Keeping these factors in mind, our costume designers and makeup artistes have successfully gifted the television world the most remarkable and forever memorable characters from individual character-portrayal groups (owing to the fact that many popular shows which showcased poignant characters have gone off-air).

The garment's cut, fabric, colour, ornaments, shoes and other accessories (including the level of confidence of individual characters) also plays a vital role in addressing the movement and intentions of a TV character in specific.

Owing to all these factors, eminent characters of various natures have sprung up in the limelight for one or the other of their extremely peculiar on-screen appearance, that has helped garner massive attention towards them in no time.

Let us take a note of the actors who have portrayed such visibly poignant characters on the small-screen, who have laid down important style statements that were adopted by the society at large:

1. Sudha Chandran as Ramola Sikand

[[{"fid":"15630569","view_mode":"default","fields":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false},"link_text":null,"type":"media","field_deltas":{"1":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false}},"attributes":{"height":425,"width":650,"class":"media-element file-default","data-delta":"1"}}]]

When the actress portrayed the role of 'Ramola Sikand' in Kahiin Kisii Roz, her character's bindi's look was the most striking feature of her entire character. Though not loud, her character's makeover included 'super long bindis' that reached up to her hairline. This fashion became a rage at that time. Another highlighting feature was her lip lining which gave the necessary vamp-vibes of her character. Many women copied that style.

2. Urvashi Dholakia and Hina Khan as Komolika

[[{"fid":"15630579","view_mode":"default","fields":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false},"link_text":null,"type":"media","field_deltas":{"2":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false}},"attributes":{"height":300,"width":465,"class":"media-element file-default","data-delta":"2"}}]]

Be it season 1 or 2, the vamp character of Komolika ruled Ekta Kapoor's show Kasautii Zindagii Kay, so much so that both the times, her on-screen presence overshadowed that of the lead duo's i.e. Prerna-Anurag. Despite her ill-intentions, another thing that was constant about this iconic TV vamp was her top-notch style-statement. Be it a marriage occasion or someone's demise, Komolika always knew her style game the best as despite maintaining the event's decorum, she never missed applying atleast one highlighting factor which was enough to remind the audience that she is meant to stand apart from her own surrounding. Be it through Urvashi (in KZK 1) or Hina (in KZK 2), Komolika's makeover did complete justice to the character.

3. Anita Hassanandini as Shagun Arora

[[{"fid":"15630599","view_mode":"default","fields":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false},"link_text":null,"type":"media","field_deltas":{"3":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false}},"attributes":{"height":429,"width":650,"class":"media-element file-default","data-delta":"3"}}]]

Shagun's character had dynamic portrayals in terms of intentions. Anita's role character underwent occasional temporal changes, owing to the external stimuluses  that she underwent at crucial moments. Her eye-shadow and hairstyle was the highlight of her character's look throughout the show, despite her cooling down from a vamp to a decent lady, thus emphasizing on the fact that Shagun never settled for anything less (even on-point eye-makeup), come what may! Not to forget, her sophisticated blouse cuts inspired many commoners.

4. Rupal Patel as Kokila Shah

[[{"fid":"15630609","view_mode":"default","fields":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false},"link_text":null,"type":"media","field_deltas":{"4":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false}},"attributes":{"height":437,"width":706,"class":"media-element file-default","data-delta":"4"}}]]

Another character with a striking bindi was Rupal's Kokila Ben in Saath Nibhana Saathiya. What made her stand apart from Sudha's Ramola? The diamond-like studs that she used to attach over it while contrasting it's base colours with that of her saree's. Also, Kokila's bi-coloured sarees were always vibrant and strikingly noticeable.

5. Devoleena Bhattacharya as Gopi Bahu

[[{"fid":"15630619","view_mode":"default","fields":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false},"link_text":null,"type":"media","field_deltas":{"5":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false}},"attributes":{"height":1280,"width":1280,"class":"media-element file-default","data-delta":"5"}}]]

Gopi Bahu's character underwent a roller-coaster journey throughout the show. From being the illiterate and naive young girl to the literate and self-empowered dignified lady, Devoleena's Gopi Bahu has come a long long way indeed. Keeping in mind her character's temporal changes, her getup and makeover were also affected and adapted according, which was deeply take a note of as her story was highly relatable for many of the viewers, especially the ladies and housewives.

6. Surbhi Chandna as Bani

[[{"fid":"15630639","view_mode":"default","fields":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false},"link_text":null,"type":"media","field_deltas":{"6":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false}},"attributes":{"height":1329,"width":1080,"class":"media-element file-default","data-delta":"6"}}]]

Surbhi Chandna is a very versatile actress for taking up different types of roles. However, it was her role in Naagin that grabbed everyone's attention instantly, mostly owing to her character Bani's style statement, which perfectly complimented the transformation she underwent earlier. Draped in colourful chiffon-sarees with statement earrings and chic necklaces, Bani's everyday desi chic-look became the dream style-statement for many girls out there, many of whom flaunted similar looks during various occasions. Also, Bani's blouse's cuts were remarkably gorgeous.

7. Sakshi Tanwar as Parvati

[[{"fid":"15630649","view_mode":"default","fields":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false},"link_text":null,"type":"media","field_deltas":{"7":{"format":"default","alignment":"","field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]":false,"field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]":false}},"attributes":{"height":350,"width":250,"class":"media-element file-default","data-delta":"7"}}]]

Now, coming to the perfect portrayal of the perfectly 'sanskaari' desi bahu, actress Sakshi Tanwar graced this look as 'Parvati'. Her saree's drape-pattern and mid-parted hairstyle depicted her perfectly on-screen 'sati-savitri' character.
