MUMBAI: Music Composer Raam Laxman, who composed music for films like Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun, among others, passed away on Saturday (May 22). He had been ill for a long time. He passed away in Nagpur, aged 79.
Raam Lakshman was born Vijay Patil. He was introduced in the film industry by Dada Kondke, for whom he made Marathi songs in the beginning of his career and later Hindi ones.

Vijay was Laxman of the Raam Laxman music composing duo. Vijay’s partner Surendra breathed his last in 1976, soon after they signed the film Agent Vinod. Vijay continued to use his partner’s name in his work to honour Surendra’s memory.
Raam Laxman garnered fame in 1989 with the Salman Khan film, Maine Pyar Kiya. His biggest hits came in collaboration with Rajshri Productions. He gave music for more than 200 films in Hindi, Marathi and Bhojpuri languages.
