MUMBAI: In a quiet ceremony, TV actor Ankit Gera tied the knot with Rashi Puri, an NRI from Nigeria on June 5 in Chandigarh.
In an exclusive interview, Ankit said, “It’s an arranged marriage. We are family friends. Our parents were looking for suitable partners for us and that’s when they suggested that we should talk. We started talking in April and soon developed a liking for each other. She flew down to India around three weeks ago before the wedding to meet me. Even though it was a short span, we got to know each other better and decided to take the plunge.”.
They say opposites attract and Ankit couldn’t agree more. He said, “We are poles apart in every aspect. Rashi had no clue about my work as an actor. She liked me for who I was as a person and not for my profession. That’s what made me fall in love with her.”.
The actor has often been in the news for his personal life more than his work. Ask him if his partner is perturbed by the past stories and speculations around him and he replied, “Everybody has a past. It’s very easy to judge the other person. Rashi doesn’t care about the past. She believes in living in the present.”.
The two tied the knot in a low-key ceremony with only 10 people in attendance. The actor says that he was never in favour of a lavish wedding.
He said, “Our families had zeroed in on a date in December as they wanted us to get married as soon as possible. Kab Covid jaayega, kab sab normal hoga. I will be turning 34 in September and it’s an ideal age to settle down. So, I decided to have a lockdown wedding, which was attended by people who matter to us.”.
