PVR Pictures is all set to release The Impossible, a film based on a true story of a Spanish couple who survived the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004, on 4 January. The film, starring Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor and Tom Holland, has been directed by Juan Antonio Bayona.
From the director of The Orphanage, The Impossible is the story of Maria (Naomi Watts), Henry (Ewan McGregor) and their three children. The family had just begun started enjoying their winter vacation in Thailand when an unexpected tsunami threatened to destroy the entire region on the unforgettable day of December 26, 2004. The story traces the frenzied journey of search, compassion, courage and how the family survives in the darkest hours of their lives, following the wild flood.
Commenting on the release of the film, PVR Pictures president Kamal Gianchandani said, “While most might perceive The Impossible as a film based on a natural calamity, it is in reality a film about a family’s struggle to reunite after an event that left them shattered. The Impossible is a story that will definitely touch the hearts of the Indian audiences.”
