The highly popular celebrity couple dance show Nach Baliye season 5 will be back with 11 very much in love couples vying for top honors from 29 December on Star Plus.
Contestants Jay Bhanushali and his better half Mahhi Vij are excited about being a part of the same. When Tellychakkar.com caught up with them at the launch press conference of the show last night.
Jay said, “Till now, both of us have individually taken part in separate seasons of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (Jay season 2 and Mahhi season 4) individually but never won. Now, we have to hope to make history as a couple on Nach Baliye 5.”
When asked as to what kind of romantic chemistry audiences can expect from them during the show, Mahhi quipped, “We are married for two and half years now, what do you expect now?” On the preparations, Jay added, “Our choreographers (Omkar and Vivek) are pushing us hard. It is just two weeks of rehearsals and I have injuries and bruises all over. I am shuddering to think what will happen when the contest really begins to hot up.”
Mahhi claims that the only reason why Jay, who till now was happily anchoring Dance India Dance had taken up the show was for this big fat cheque. “It is all about money baby,” she exclaimed. Later, Jai explained,“ At first, I did not want to say yes to the show but Mahhi was gung-ho and I finally had to give my nod, yes for two reasons. One, it will help me pay off my home loan and secondly, it will make my wife very happy.”
When asked to compare dancing to anchoring, he observed,“ The latter is a much more laid-back job , no stress, anybody can anchor, but dancing is a completely different ball game.” He declares that his personal best dancing form is the Ganpati pandal dance. Of course, Mahhi likes any form of chapri dance. We would like to enjoy street dance on the Nach Baliye stage but our choreographers always want us to do something different. I guess they are really inspired by the Bigg Boss 6 tag line Alag Che.”
Before concluding, Jay jokingly requested viewers when he said, “Even if you don’t like our performance, please vote for us, for now I have assumed the mantra of a politician where all the contestants of the show will beg for votes.”
