MUMBAI: Actress Dipika Chikhlia, who shot to fame thanks to the role of Sita in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, will once again be seen in a mythological series. However, this time, it won't be for television.

In an interview, Dipika Chikhlia spoke about her upcoming mythological web series and why she has stopped watching television.

Dipika Chikhlia, who had once said that Sita is an extension of herself, will be seen in the mythological series Jai Maa Vaishno Devi. When asked if she is making a comeback to the small screen, she said, "Actually, it's not a return to TV as of yet, because this is more of a web series. We are in talks regarding some TV projects too. A lot of people are coming forward with good work and good offers. So, let's see how things shape up.".

Sharing more details about the series, she added, "It's a mythological series. I never wanted to do a mythological show again, but because it was Ramanand Sagar Productions, I was like 'chalo let's do it', as I am very comfortable working with them. Initially, they wanted me to play Vaishno Devi, then the role turned out to be of a young girl. I play Vaishno Devi's mother Maharani Vijaya. It's a nice role. It's a 10-episode web series but they haven't yet sold it to any OTT platforms.".

Dipika Chikhlia has stayed away from television for quite a long time. However, she wouldn't mind making a comeback if she gets a good offer. "I would like to do something very diverse from what I played, but still very respectable. It could be funny, dominating. I don't want to play that sweet, coy mother or mother-in-law or a bahu. I want to break out of that. As an actor, I also want to experiment with being funny, loud, screaming - something different. It has to be a principal role otherwise I don't want to take it up. If I am going back to television, then I want something where I am the central character.".
