Click on the pic to view slideshow 2012 has been an eventful year for many Producers of Indian television. And there has been a good mix of already existing shows and new ones that have managed to grab eyeballs. Tellychakkar.com continues with the year ender articles with a list of Producers who made it to the top in the year 2012. Of course, the list presented here is based on the popularity of the shows in terms of ratings, fan following, performances and content. Read on... The first in the list has to be Triangle Films Company, headed by Nikhil Sinha as they have re-created history with the success of their mythological show on Life OK, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev. The show happens to be the first independent show of Director turned Producer Nikhil Sinha who earlier co-produced Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo along with Raakesh Paswan. And the man deserves a big applause for making such a widely appreciated mytho in Mahadev with a fabulous cast. Rashmi Sharma Telefilms have had a great year in terms of popularity of their three ongoing shows. Firstly, let us talk about the big news that made headlines when Giaa Maanek got out of their highly successful show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. And the day Devoleena Bhattacharjee replaced her as the new Gopi Bahu, many in the industry would have truly believed that Rashmi Sharma can never recreate the same magic again. But today, the lady stands tall with Saathiya again managing to grab the #1 position as per the Week 51 ratings. Also, her show on Colors Sasural Simar Ka and Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein (Zee TV) continues to impress viewers with its simple yet strong story telling. Rajan Shahi’s Director’s Kut has always given the viewers a great television watch. And they continue to do so with their 1000 plus episodes show on Star Plus, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. In a television era where many of the newly launched shows fail to run for even six months, here is a production house that churns homely tracks weaved around their protagonist pair Naitik (Karan Mehra) and Akshara (Hina Khan). Also, their show on Life OK, Amrit Manthan, and Kuch Toh Log Kahenge on Sony TV have made a mark for themselves. Sudhir Sharma’s Sunshine Productions had a reason to rejoice when their highly appreciated show Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha on Colors got a new lease of life when the channel announced a Season 2 owing to its high popularity. Though the Season one did not manage to get great TRPs, this is one show that will live on in the viewers’ hearts for many years to come. And we do hope that the Season 2 gets placed in a better time slot so that the show gets it due in terms of ratings too. The makers also produce The Buddy Project on Channel V. Shashi-Sumeet Mittal Productions’ Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus was a show that had a long wait when it came to its launch. However, the show was declared a ‘Super Success’ from the very first month and its ratings have been soaring higher and higher with the introduction of every new track. Shashi and Sumeet Mittal’s ongoing show on Zee TV, Punar Vivah has had a good run. Even though their shows Kairee on Colors and Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki on Life OK could not get the TRP registers buzzing, the production house do have the ‘feel good factor’ with them with a huge hit like Diya Aur Baati Hum under their belt. Sunjoy Wadhwa’s Sphere Origins is a name to reckon with when it comes to churning out family dramas. And their 1000 club show on Colors, Balika Vadhu seems to be blessed with great viewership even after many years of launch. Their recently launched show on Life OK, 26-12 is yet another unique concept and the makers deserve a pat on their shoulders for trying something out-of-the-box. The same cannot be said about their ongoing show on Sony, Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage as it failed to pass the ratings test. But on the whole, a great year for them indeed!! Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms continues to have a rocking phase in television. Her shows Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada on Sony and Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV continue to do an amazing job. Here is a Producer with an optimistic outlook to life. 4 Lions Films has had a good year in terms of popularity as well as controversies. Their show on Star Plus, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (which they co-produced along with IMRC Entertainment) topped the charts when it came to the popularity of their leading Jodi, so much so that the channel decided to prematurely end the show with the lead actor Barun Sobti quitting the project. Gul Khan and Gorky of 4 Lions Films also have Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the Year (Channel V), Qubool Hai (Zee TV) and Arjun (Star Plus) on air at the moment, with few new shows in the pipeline. Optimystix’ Crime Patrol (Vipul D Shah and Sanjeev Sharma) can never be left behind when it comes to the popularity and ratings. The production house is doing a brilliant job in churning out gripping real-life stories week after week. Also, their expertise in the genre of comedy is unmatched as their reality show on Sony TV Comedy Circus continues to keep the viewers in splits. Asit Modi’s Neela Telefilms has again re-written history by giving a show like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah which airs on SAB TV. The show which is again from the 1000 club is one that no family wants to miss. A special mention to Siddharth Malhotra’s Cinevistaas here, as the year 2012 was memorable for them with their production house completing 30 years. Their shows on Star Plus, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai is doing a swell job and same is the case with their Channel V show, Dil Dostii Dance. Their newly launched show on Channel V, Best Friends Forever also provides uniqueness to the viewers in terms of concept.
