MUMBAI: Bollywood industry also covers movies based on History and Patriotism. It's an amazing fact to be known that, Bollywood has done more than 70 films that are based on patriotism and ancient times. The industry takes us back and educates us as to how the time has been in the past. Time is fleeing and we have been the change of revolution. It's a pride to showcase these kinds of past stories.

One special category that Indians always love to experience is the films based on our history. And some talented filmmakers take up the challenge to bring out some stories that showcase the genre beautifully.

As the nation gets ready to celebrate its Independence Day this year, let's take a ride to some of the epic hits which took us back in the past to witness few iconic characters.

Starring Shah Rukh Khan to essay the lead role, the film was released in the year 2007. The plot of this sports drama is based on Kabir Khan. He is the former Captain of the Indian men’s Hockey team who then comes back to the game to coach the women's team to the world cup. It is the deep emotion of SRK’s character and his hard work to see India’s name shine that comes through. As Coach Kabir Khan makes the Indian team win the Hockey World Cup, the unforgettable Maula Mere song never fails to give energy and a proud moment.

Kesari:

This particular Bollywood film is based on historic happenings famously known as The Battle of Saragarhi. It talks about the tale of Havildar Ishar Singh who leads 21 Sikh soldiers against 10,000 Pashtun invaders. It takes us back to one of the greatest chapters of Indian history that highlights and sheds light on how courageous our ancestors were. The film is sentimental on many levels, the love and pride in our country in Ishar’s character, played by Akshay Kumar, being the main part of it.

Raazi:

Raazi is one of the hit films. This wow periodic film goes back to 1971 during the Indo-Pak War. It portrays the tale of a young girl who bravely sacrifices everything for the nation. She then marries a bureaucratic family in Pakistan so that she can work as a spy and make her mission a great success. The significance of the character of Sehmat and her loyalty towards our nation is played by the one and only Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt.

The Ghazi Attack:

Critically appreciated, the Bollywood film The Ghazi Attack also goes back to 1971 where S21, an Indian Naval Submarine hinders Pakistan’s flagship submarine, PNS Ghazi. This movie gives us the details of what had exactly happened. The film takes us under the water on the Eastern Coast of India. The whole film has been shot in a Submarine set with an ensemble cast that includes Rana Daggubati, Atul Kulkarni, Kay Kay Menon, and Taapsee Pannu. It was indeed a movie with lots of emotions. With amazing performances and a strong story base, this film of unsung heroes is an apt tribute to our Indian Naval Army, this has surely increased more respect in our mind for the people who leave everything aside but fight for the nation.

Shershaah:

It is the upcoming project namely- Shershaah will be a perfect release for Independence Day 2021. Such movies should be released on these days to make their importance even higher. Paying a heartfelt tribute to the late, Captain Vikram GL Batra, the film narrates the story of a hero whose contribution will always be remembered and respected. Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in the lead roles, the film is a historical tale of Vikram Batra who sacrificed his life during the Kargil War in 1999 after capturing two important points at Line of Control. The film is helmed by director Vishnuvardhan who is making his debut in Bollywood. The movie is about love, patriotism and sacrifice, celebrating the journeys of our brave soldiers.
