MUMBAI: Snehal Reddy aka Sulochana from Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali is known for her negative yet quirky character in the show. The current track of the show witnessed a completely changed avatar of Sulochana which was totally unexpected for fans.
We rang the actress and asked her some fun questions regarding the show and some about who Snehal is, for her fans to get yet another step closer to her. You wouldn't believe what answers she had to our questions.

What is your take on the current track with Swapnil and Sulochana's love story?
It has really been interesting and a complete comic angle, I still remember when I was first told about this track, Sai and I were completely shocked. At first, we were hesitant, later we took it sportingly. Sulochana has turned dumb yet cute in her fantasy land. She is totally awestruck by Swapnil's charming looks and keeps comparing her husband to him and asks him to lose some weight and look fit like him.
Fans have given us immense love for the scenes, but somewhere many of them called it cheap, I would want to tell them that audience should enjoy the performance of every actor in the show and not demean them for their character. Just how Mandar is completely negative, fans have literally texted and asked him to leave the show. We completely respect the fan base but that doesn't mean other characters aren't working hard.
Although we are equally accepted by the fans quite often, the viewers are unable to differentiate between the reel and real. They have forgotten what Sulochana's perspective is towards Raghav's disguise Swapnil. It is not anything that is cheap or demeaning. It is just a fantasy and she has taken the viewers on board with her comic side.
How do you manage to keep yourself away from trolls and negative comments?
When we pick such characters, I have received such crass words, terrible words and it is never-ending. But I take this in a positive way, I call it a compliment. Their hate makes them want to watch more of Sulochana to pass a comment. This makes my job easier as I am getting the reaction that I want for my role. I have successfully reached their minds and made them think that I am a bad person on screen and my mere presence is irking them.
But as an actor, I feel it is high time fans moved on from trolling and understand the difference between the reel and the real-life of an artist. Appreciate their work instead of mocking it.
What made you say yes to this role?
I always wanted to do a negative role in my career, I began with modelling and then shifted to acting but I had taken a break from both careers after some time. While marking my return in the industry, I was offered the role of Sulochana, when I heard my character sketch there was no way I would deny my dream role. It not only gave me an opportunity to experiment with my skills but reminded me of the iconic performances of Ramola, Komolika that I looked up to. This was indeed the perfect comeback I wished for.
