It must be admitted that Rahul Dholakia makes films on topical issues. First he made Parzania that was inspired by the true story of a ten-year-old Parsi boy, Azhar Mody who disappeared after the 28 February 2002 Gulbarg Society massacre, during the communal riots in Gujarat in 2002 during which approx 69 people were killed.
Then he made Lamhaa that was the story of an army officer, Sanjay Dutt and his love interest Bipasha Basu in the midst of the various issues that Kashmir had faced over the years.

Right now, he is making a film that deals with the issue of illegal liquor trade in Gujarat where prohibition is in force for umpteen years. Said Dholakia in confirmation, "I am working on a story that is about liquor prohibition in Gujarat and the issues around it. I plan to show the nexus of illegal liquor. It will be an entertaining film. Hopefully it should be ready in six months.”
Signing of the star cast of the film hasn’t yet been touched upon. "Once I lock the script, I will finalise the actors," Dholakia observed.
Detailing on the type of films he loves to make, Dholakia averred, "I somewhere feel cinema needs to be entertaining but not mindless. Cinema is a medium where one can show reality but in an entertaining way."
