Preeti Chaudhary feels 'she is due for a big lead role'

Preeti Chaudhary, who essayed the lead role in Colors’ short-lived show Kairee, is back to the grind of looking for her next project on television, after enjoying a reunion of sorts with her family in Ghaziabad after a year. Says Preeti, “I had not been to my home town from the time I started shooting for Kairee. I had been to Ghaziabad for a seven days visit and had a gala time meeting friends and family. I am now back in Mumbai and looking for my next role.”

I am now back in Mumbai and looking for my next role.” Though Preeti has an optimistic approach to life, the early closure of Kairee has disappointed her a lot. “I had to struggle for three long years to grab a lead role on television. And if that show ends in just nine months, you can imagine my state of mind. I was very disappointed. I agree that the ratings were pretty low, but I did not think the producers would give up so soon on the project. Considering the huge manner in which the channel promoted the show, I really felt it should have got a decent run of at least a year or so.” On the possible factors that attributed to the show’s ending, Preeti states, “Kairee was a very popular show, and thanks to the promotion many people knew about it. I think the replacement of Jay Bhanushali did affect the show to some extent. Jay had a huge fan following and there were many girls who kept messaging me that they were upset with Jay not being in the project.” Looking forward, Preeti avers, “I am the same girl going through series of auditions. However, I do not think I would get a role as strong as Ambi in future. Ambi unlike all the female protagonists on TV would never cry. I think I am still due for a big lead role. Having said this, if I get a character role which is meaty enough, I will not mind taking it up.” Preeti, all the very best for your future.
