The beautiful and talented Gurdip Kohli who was seen as Sanjivani in Best Of Luck Nikki Season 2, will soon be seen in a chef’s apron in Zee Network’s cooking channel Khana Khazana. “Yes the show, Bachcha Party, will see me talking about cooking and not acting. Here, I will teach mothers the basic recipes. Being a mom myself, I know how kids run away from food, hence this show is designed to bring food closer to them. We will present the food in such a way so that it encourages kids to try out my tasty creations. Plus, we will always keep in mind the health and nutrition part,” observes Gurdip. “I have always loved to cook and never thought that this liking of mine would one day become a profession. My recipes are mostly homemade, but I would of course want to learn to make the more elaborate stuff like other professional chefs namely Gautam Mehrish and Ranveer Brar,” she adds. Gurdip does not give too much importance to the fact that most women use too many utensils while cooking. “It is okay, the most important point is to make good grub, the spreading of stuff is secondary. But I try to keep my kitchen tidy as it is me only who has to clean up the mess in the ending.” What is her biggest food faux pas, we ask Gurdip. “I can’t knead flour; I find it messy. The dough has to knead properly lest the powder is seen. Once I tried to make parathas without fully kneading the flour; the result was really bad. The food processor does solve this problem of mine now.” Returning to Khana Khazana, Gurdip is happy that niche channels are finally taking off in India. “Are channels like Discovery Travel and Living not already a big hit? The problem with international cuisines is since we don’t get many of the required ingredients, we can’t try them out. While we Indians have our own palette with our spices, why don’t we try them out,” she asks. Before summing up, Gurdip informs us that she will soon start shooting for the third season of Best of Luck Nikki. “I have really enjoyed working with the kids. Working in dailies like Sindoor Tere Naam Ka and Kasamh Se, among others, would be a stressful job but in this particular show, going to the set is a stress buster as the kids really make you happy.” She also has no problems in essaying characters elder to her age, “acting is more important than age, this comes with territory.”
