Bigg Boss is now all set to revolutionize entertainment in South India. ETV Kannada has bagged the format rights from Endemol India to produce the biggest and the most acclaimed reality show that has changed the landscape of reality TV in the country. Bigg Boss as a concept has been loved by the country since six glorious years, and through ETV Kannada it is entering the regional space for the first time. A show that is a perfect blend of reality and unscripted drama, the Kannada version will see its local newsmakers and celebrities from all walks of life entering the Bigg Boss House. Southern Superstar Sudeep will be introduced in a never seen before avatar on Kannada television as the host of the show. Bigg Boss Kannada will be aired on ETV Kannada in March (2013). Talking about his association with the show, Sudeep said, “Bigg Boss is all about human emotions and it isn’t particularly a formatted show. It is a reality show in the true sense and is both quick and spontaneous. I am very happy to be associated with the biggest television show of Karnataka market.” Parameshwar Gundkal, Programming Head, ETV Kannada said, “Television content is all about story telling. It deals with emotions and drama of everyday life. Bigg Boss deals with this fact in by far, the biggest way. This is the best show available for the viewers to get up close and personal with their favorite celebrities.” Commenting on bringing the format to the Kannada GEC space, he said, “Bigg Boss is our next unique offering that will further accelerate and add momentum to our existing bouquet of shows.” Deepak Dhar, CEO, Endemol India further elaborated saying, "Bigg Boss has connected extremely well with Indian audiences because it showcases reality in its truest, unadulterated form. Season after season, it has been the talk of town and to maintain the same amount of fanfare in its Kannada version, we have incorporated a gamut of innovations and new ideas based on our observations and learning from the Bigg Brother Format world over. Bigg Boss Kannada is bound to create entertaining content driven by the reality of what each contestant will experience in the Bigg Boss house… real emotions, real drama and real tension.” Abhishek Rege, COO – Television, Endemol India added, “Bigg Boss is a popular format globally and we are excited to extend it regionally across India. While the Kannada adaptation of the format is the first step in that direction, we will certainly look at adapting the format in other local languages as well.” The group of celebrities who will be living together for 14 weeks will bring out the best and worst in each other as they struggle to keep their calm and survive in the Bigg Boss house confines. The Bigg Boss house will not have any kind of entertainment or sources of communication with the outside world. With cameras tracking their every move, 24x7, the contestants will have to do without basics that they hold dear like a television, books, internet or their phones.
