On the day he spoke to Tellychakkar.com in an interview that that It was not true that Sanjeev Jaiswal, who has played Ajmal Kasab in The Attacks of 26/11, has gone into hiding but was deliberately kept away to create a feeling of extreme reality when audiences see him on screen for the first time, the same evening Ram Gopal Varma introduced the actor to the media.
As a matter of fact, the young Mumbai-based 24-year old actor came before the media for the first time after he played the epochal character of Kasab in the RGV film."I was switching on and off when I played Kasab; I hate him as much as anyone else in India does," quips Sanjeev.
The young actor, who ranked seventh among the lot of 40 people who auditioned for the role, was selected by Varma instantly. "Once I saw him, I didn't want to meet anyone else," the ebullient director avers.
Jaiswal was struggling for a while before he landed the coveted role. "I have been hunting for roles for many years, but got the break of my life. People love me, but hate my character in the film," he observes.
