Salaam Bombay Premiere - A glorious night of many beautiful memories

On the night of March 16th at Cinemax Versova, Mira Nair along with the cast members of her iconic film ‘Salaam Bombay’ came together to celebrate the re-release of their movie in the most magnificent way. PVR Director’s Rare will re – release Salaam Bombay on March 22nd, the movie that completed 25 years of glory and accolades. Celebrities like writer of Salaam Bombay- Sooni Taraporewala, Richa Chadda, Aanjjan Shrivastava, Raghubir Yadav, Onir, Sanjay Suri, Rajat Kapoor, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra,Cyrus Sahukar, Arunoday Singh and Hansa Vithal were present at the event. Also present was Shabana Azmi’s mother, Shaukat Azmi who makes rare public appearances. The event unfolded as the vivacious Sandhya Mridul introduced the cast and crew of Salaam Bombay on the stage. It was followed by a beautiful performance by the children of Salaam Baalak Trust Mumbai and the release of Salaam Bombay book originally published by Penguin in 1989. Before the screening of the movie began, Mira threw in a little surprise by unveiling the poster and the trailer of her new movie ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’. ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ is based on the bestselling novel was Mohsin Hamid. It stars Kate Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland, Liev Schrieber, Riz Ahmed, Shabana Azmi and Om Puri and Meesha Shafi. PVR Pictures is all set to release the movie in May 2013.
