Sphere Origins’ Phir Subah Hogi started on a very promising note on Zee TV, with a story of a girl who is born in a tribe where women are meant to be taking to prostitution as their profession. But she decides on living her life in a different way. However, after the initial few episodes, the story took a different turn and the TRPs began to dip. Hence, the channel decided to axe the show. As reported, the show will see its last telecast on 22 March 2013. Therefore, we decided to get in touch with the cast of the show to know their views on the same. When we contacted Gulki Joshi, better known as Sugni, she said, “It was just ten days ago that I learnt that the show is going off-air but I think it’s fine. It had a one year run which was decent enough but I am going to miss the entire cast and crew.” Did you cry on the last day (19 March 2013) of your shoot? “Though the last day was a gloomy one, but I did not cry; I am not the kinds who’d cry.” When asked as to what went wrong with the project, she averred, “The first five months were brilliant but then lots of wrong decisions were taken post that. I simply feel that if makers want to come up with a show, they must work on the story they have and need not change because of the TRPs; for then it becomes one of those crappy TV shows that earn you TRPs but are of no worth. Moreover at the end of the day, your audience feels cheated as you’re not showing them what you’ve promised.” Varun Badola aka Thakur Vikram Singh states, “My last day at shoot was just like any other day. When Koshish came to an end, I had felt empty, but when Astitva ended, I felt that it was the best time for it to end. Aek Chabhi Hai Padoss Mein was a shocker as we did not expect it to go off-air but for Phir Subah Hogi, I was prepared as we had already committed too many blunders.” Could you name those blunders? “The show was fetching a decent number of 2.6/2.5 TVR but they wanted to push it more. It’s very simple that if you invest 50 lakhs in Bheja Fry you do not expect it to get you the business that 3 Idiots got. But, undoubtedly it was a superb movie. The channel and the makers should have understood this. Had they thought on those lines, we wouldn’t have given up on the DNA of this show that soon.” So does the actor feel bad about what happened? “It really does not matter now, as I wonder what kind of a shelf value the show has now. But it could have gone down to be one of the best shows I ever worked for.” Well, though the actors are not very happy with the end result, the serial is all set to have a happy ending soon after which both the actors are planning to take a break. “I am not going to take up any work till May this year as I have plans of holidaying. I haven’t decided where I’d be heading but my body needs rest. Something I couldn’t do while shooting for the show,” said Gulki. Varun, on the other hand, went on to say, “TV has become very taxing of late so I would wait for the right project. But, till then I plan to spend some quality time with my son.”
