MUMBAI: Pregnancy is the most beautiful phase for a woman!

There is no other better feeling in the world than experiencing the birth of your little one, taking the baby in your arms and holding their tiny fingers.

There is one gorgeous looking actress who is feeling the same emotions. We are talking about the very talented Debina Bonnerjee, who is still re-called for her role as Sita in Ramayan and Mayuri in Chidiya Ghar, is expecting her first kid with husband and actor Gurmeet Choudhary.

TellyChakkar spoke to the mommy-to-be about her pregnancy.

Excerpts:

How are you taking care of yourself during this pregnancy?

I've learnt that everybody is different, and I was prepared for anything to happen. I'm glad I didn't experience any morning sickness, so everyone's experience is very different. I was nauseous when I ate eggs, but later on I was ok with it. The key to it is, listen to your body rather than anyone else.

Do you have any cravings for any particular food?

Initially, I had cravings for croissants, I could eat them any time. Also, truffle fries and Pani Puri. But now I don't have any cravings. And being an actor, I've always controlled my cravings so I've continued to do that. I eat only homemade food now.

How did you handle the society pressure to start a family?

I feel sad that society puts so much pressure on women to get married and have kids, as if marriage is the ultimate goal in life. But I never paid any attention to any pressure from society. Initially, I used to get angry on such questions, but then it really hurts when you're actually trying to start a family of your own but it's not happening that easily and I've many such friends who were going through the same phase in life. I would advise people not to ask such questions and stop intruding into anyone's personal space. Because that kind of pressure affects the person and creates difficulty in the conceiving process. I believed that whatever I desire, it will happen someday. But the societal pressure is really hurtful.

We often hear people commenting on a women’s biological clock, what is your take on that?

Some people do have good intentions, but some people are just hurtful. If you appreciate a woman's work, appreciate and respect her life decisions as well. Even if it's your close friend, unless she doesn't start the conversation about it one shouldn't intrude anyone's privacy.

How was your and Gurmeet's reaction when you got your pregnancy news?

We were very surprised because we've been through a lot. But as soon as we got the news, suddenly life seemed to be like a party every day! We started eating out every day but now we started to control ourselves and focus on the future.

Wishing Debina a blissful life ahead!
