Who says filmmakers do not give a chance to aspiring actors to act in their films.
This has been proved wrong by Karan Johar who has cast the daughter of an office peon at Yash Raj for his segment in the soon-to-be released Bombay Talkies.
It so happened that in one of his many visits to the studio, the noted filmmaker who heads Dharma Productions came to know that the daughter of a certain peon nurtured dreams of acting in a film after she had already requested her father to put in a word to Johar if she could be accommodated in any of the films that his studio makes, even if it was in a blink-and-miss role.
Exclaimed an insider, "Having wanted to see herself on the big screen, she had told everybody in her home town that her dad works for Yash Raj and her friends often asked her if she would ever be seen in a film. The peon managed to put in a word with Aditya Chopra, who in turn put in a word with Karan Johar to help her out."
And what a coincidence, Johar, who needed a girl next-door for one of the pivotal roles in his movie, decided to audition her. She got selected for the role.
However, no one of in Dharma Productions are willing to divulge the name of the actor before the film's release.
Bombay Talkies is an Indian anthology film consisting of four short films directed by Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema.
