Gudi Padwa, the New Year day of Maharashtrians that is observed to celebrate the win of good over evil and to have a smooth and peaceful start ahead, is celebrated with joy and honor. The Kalash on top of a stick with a colourful piece of cloth signifies the symbol of victory of Lord Rama over Ravan. We talked to few Maharashtrian television celebrities to find out their take of this auspicious day. Stated beautiful actress Supriya Pilgaonkar, who was last seen in Star Plus’ Sasural Genda Phool, “This is the most happening day for me and my family. There is a lot to do as in the evening, relatives will come over to our place. I am so much into preparations that I don’t even have time to look after myself. On this auspicious day, I would love to wish all my dear fans a very happy Gudi Padwa.” Averred handsome hunk Aditya Redij aka Prithvi in Life OK’s Junoon, “I have taken a day’s off from work for my birthday (yesterday) as well as for Gudi Padwa. I will spend the entire day today with my family. This morning, we performed the rituals and later went for lunch. We can also catch a movie if possible. I want to start this New Year with my family and take their blessings.” The simple and sweet looking Keerti Nagpure, who was seen as Siddhi in Parichay on Colors exclaimed, “I have already done my pooja and have made a beautiful Rangoli at the entrance of my flat. I am planning to make something special for my God and will visit a temple to offer my prayers. May be my mom and dad will go to buy Gold because buying this precious metal is a good sign of showing happiness. The most lovable part of this festival is sweets which my mother makes for us and they are puran poli and aamras. I am pretty much excited about it. This is the only festival when people get together and wish each other. Even relatives who stay far come closer today to share happiness and peace.” Dashing Swapnil Joshi, known for his sense of humor on television, shared, “I have come all the way from Kolhapur to Mumbai to spend time with my family on Gudi Padwa. I have already offered my prayers to God and wished for peace and harmony for my family. The ritual teaches us the way of living life. In fact, I believe that every religion teaches us the same manner of living. My favourite sweet is Ukdi Che Modak specially made by my mom, so I am desperately waiting to eat. Happy Gudi Padwa my fans.” Adorable Yashashri Masurkar in Sanskaar… on Colors observed, “I have come to my parents place and fortunately it’s my best friend’s wedding today. So we will enjoy her wedding and will have good food made by my mother as well. In the morning I made toran and rangoli to decorate the entrance of my house. It’s good when you keep the ritual alive in your heart. I wish all my fans a very Happy New Year and hope for their better future.” “I don’t really have much of a plan as such, but yes, I will spend it with my loving family and make this day special enough to keep the love intact for coming years as well. I don’t really have any favourite dish as such because I eat everything that my wife offers me”, stated veteran Ashok Saraf. Shared the sparkling Mrinal Kulkarni, “Right now I am heading home after attending the the biggest Rath Yatra by the citizens of Dombivali. Around 25,000 people were on the streets welcoming the New Year by dancing with lezim, dhol nagadas. It was a wonderful experience of starting the year with a spark. I wish all my lovable audience a Happy New Year.” Lastly, glamorous Ankita Lokhande, known as Archana of Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV maintained, “I am enjoying this New Year with my family and am pretty busy with the occasion.
