MUMBAI: Days after Mani Ratnam dropped the extravagant trailer of his upcoming magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan 1', it is reported that the film has been sold at a whopping price to an OTT platform.
The film which stars Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Sarath Kumar, and Aishwarya Lekshmi has been reportedly given its digital streaming rights to Amazon Prime Video for Rs 125 crore.

'Ponniyin Selvan: 1' is a cinematic adaptation of author Kalki Krishnamurthy's Tamil novel of the same name which was released in the form of a series during the 1950s. It is a glorious film that narrates the story of India's greatest empire, the Cholas.
The three-minute 30-second-long Tamil trailer begins with Kamal Haasan narrating in the background what the movie has to offer.

The trailer introduces Vikram as Aditya Karikalan and then goes on to show Jayam Ravi as Arun Mozhi Varman, who later on goes on to become the great Raja Raja Cholan. Next to be introduced is Karthi as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan.
The first part of the film is set to hit screens on September 30 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
