MUMBAI: King Khan, who has not taken up any major project in the past 4 years, is now returning with a splash in the coming year. Apart from a few cameos this year in the movies, Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva and Rocketry: The Nambi effect, he will be acting in 3 major films as the lead roles in 2023. Pathaan, Dunki, and Jawaan from Red Chillies Entertainment each have a star cast and separate gripping plots, which has raised a lot of hype among fans.
Pathaan which is being bankrolled by the reputed Yash Raj Films, is certainly one of the most anticipated projects of the Indian film industry right now. The spy-action thriller, being directed by Siddharth Anand, features King Khan in the main role. As per reports, Pathaan will be the fourth instalment of Yash Raj Films’ highly celebrated spy thriller universe, which includes, Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, and War. It also prides itself in being the most expensive project ever made by the production banner.
Deepika Padukone will play the female lead opposite SRK in Pathaan. The Sidharth Anand directorial marks her fourth collaboration with the superstar, as a leading lady. Renowned actor John Abraham plays a pivotal role in the film. If reports are to be believed, Tiger actor Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, who played the lead role in War, will also make cameo appearances in Pathaan. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer has been scheduled to hit theatres on January 25, 2023.
Shah Rukh Khan is finally joining hands with master craftsman Rajkumar Hirani, for another project Dunki. The movie, which reportedly revolves around the lives of illegal immigrants, marks the superstar’s first-ever collaboration with the filmmaker. King Khan wrapped up the Budapest leg of the shooting schedule in August this year. The next scheduled shooting of the project is expected to start shooting in Dubai soon.
Dunki features Taapsee Pannu as the female lead, which marks the talented actress’s first onscreen collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan. Reports suggest that Vicky Kaushal is also playing a vital role in the much-awaited film. Boman Irani and Satish Shah will also be playing important roles in Dunki. The film is set to hit the theatres by the end of 2023.
Shah Rukh Khan will also be playing the lead role in Jawan, which is a comedy entertainer. This will be the Bollywood debut of Tamil filmmaker Atlee. The highly anticipated project, which features the superstar in the main role, is currently in the final stages of filming. Shah Rukh Khan and director Atlee recently wrapped up the Chennai schedule of the movie, with a star-studded party. They will soon be continuing their filming in Rajasthan.
Nayanthara, one of the well known lady superstars of South cinema, is making her Bollywood debut as the female lead of the film. Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay will also make a special appearance in the film. The lead antagonist will be played by national award-winner Vijay Sethupathi. Priya Mani, Yogi Babu, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, and others will also appear in supporting roles. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music for the project, which is set to hit theatres on June 2, 2023.
It has also been hinted by Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji that Shah Rukh Khan might reprise his character, scientist Mohan Bhargav, in the sequel of Brahmastra. The director also added that they are also planning to create a spin-off movie featuring King Khan’s character in the future, although the makers have not officially announced anything regarding these projects, so far.
