MUMBAI : The recently released Kannada film Kantara has been the talk of the town as it has been breaking records at the Indian box office. The period action thriller has become an overnight sensation and is loved by viewers all over. The Hindi dubbed version itself will be crossing the Rs. 100 crores club very soon. Currently it is at the Rs. 75 crores mark in the box office. Now ever since the movie’s release, fans have been waiting in anticipation as to when Rishab Shetty’s film would be released on OTT. It is expected to be released on Amazon Prime.
Rumours have been doing the rounds about the online premiere of the film for over two weeks already. Fans cannot wait for the OTT release of Kantara. Something common between recent rumours is that the Kantara OTT release date is most likely going to be 24th November on Amazon Prime Video. However, there has not been any official news from the streaming platform themselves, and neither have the makers confirmed the same. In fact, very recently, Amazon through its official Twitter handle tweeted saying that no such official announcement has been made in this regard.

The movie is set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada. Kantara follows the story of a Kambala champion, played by Rishab Shetty himself, who gets into disagreements with an upright Forest Ranger, Muralidhar played by Kishore. Kambala is an annual race that is held in coastal Karnataka from November to March, in which a jockey drives a pair of buffaloes tied to the plough, through parallel muddy tracks.
‘Kantara’ was released in the Kannada and Hindi languages on 30th September, and 14th October respectively. The film was written and directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda, under the banner of Hombale Films. The film stars Rishab Shetty, Sapthami Gowda, and Kishore Kumar G in major roles.
