MUMBAI : Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is one of the most popular and longest-running shows on Indian television. It has gained immense love and the audience loves the chemistry of AbhiRa aka Abhimanyu and Akshara.
Ami Trivedi is currently portraying Manjari Birla, Abhimanyu’s mother, in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. She is loved for her character and performance.
Ami started acting at a very young age. She pursued Gujarati theatre for a few years. She got her first break for a small role in a daily soap Babul Ki Duwayen Leti Jaa which aired on Zee TV.
She went on to do the popular lead role of Kittu in Kituu Sab Janti Hai. She also played "Kokila" in the popular comedy sitcom Papad Pol. She was also a part of Sony SAb’s Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo.
Tellychakkar recently got in touch with the actress and got to know interesting insights about the show and her character.
What are your thoughts on the current track where Aarohi is blackmailing Abhimanyu?
“If you ask Manjari, she does not have any idea. She is living in her own world where she thinks everyone is putting in the effort to live together and be happy. This is her main priority. My character is someone who just wants to keep the family together. She comes from a very old school of thought, where she hasn’t grown much, maybe she was not educated the way her sister Mahima has been educated. So she has always thought about taking care of her family and house. She is ready to face every issue just to make sure that the family stays together.”

Manjari is aware of Aarohi’s past events and actions. Is Manjari deliberately trying to be oblivious towardher right now to keep the family intact?
“I don’t think she is oblivious to the fact, Aarohi has been what she has been throughout. Maybe Manjari is not completely aware of her evil intentions. But she knows what Aarohi has done in the past that has been out in the open for everybody. But I feel Manjari’s thought process or her belief in keeping the family together is very strong. The thread that has been going on since the first season of trying to keep the family together is the strongest in Manjari. She feels even if you have to adjust a little or tolerate it, then do it for the family. Because that is something she has done herself in her life. She feels some ups and downs keep happening, one should adjust a little.”
Do you feel that to keep the family together, Manjari forces her opinion on the family and especially Abhimanyu?
“As Ami, I feel yes, definitely that is the case. But I have to do what I’ve been asked to do. I also personally belong to this era but Manjari’s thought process is not like that. She imposes her opinions strongly on others but because she has a linear thought process that the family should be together no matter what. She sometimes feels she cannot make Harshwardhan understand so she asks Abhimanyu, if Aarohi does not understand, she asks Akshara because she knows they will understand. This is how it works, the more understanding one has to adjust more.”
