MUMBAI: Everyone was expecting that SS Rajamouli’s RRR will be India’s official entry to the Oscars. However, that didn’t happen, but now, the movie has received two nominations at Golden Globe Awards 2023. The movie has received nominations in two categories, Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language and Best Original Song – Motion Picture.
RRR is one of the biggest hits of the year. It starred Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Alia Bhatt, and Olivia Morris. The film started getting a lot of praise overseas after it started streaming on Netflix. Many Hollywood filmmakers tweeted about the movie.
Now, everyone is eagerly waiting for 11th January 2023, the day Golden Globe Awards are scheduled to take place. TellyChakkar recently spoke to South trade analyst and film expert, Ramesh Bala about RRR being nominated at Golden Globes 2023.
When asked if there are chances that the film will win awards at Golden Globes 2023, he told us, “There are fair chances that the film will win. The film has received a great response in the US in the past few months, and even SS Rajamouli has been promoting the film well. Of course, I can’t say with 100 percent certainty that it will win. But there are fair chances of it winning.”
Though RRR didn’t make it to the Oscars as India’s official entry, the makers decided to submit it individually. When we asked Ramesh Bala about the chances of RRR getting nominated at Oscars 2023, he said, “I think it should get nominated. If not in all categories I am expecting that it will be nominated in two to three categories. It won’t be nominated in the Foreign Film category, but there are chances in the Best Picture category. So, let’s see.”

SS Rajamouli’s RRR is one of the highest-grossing Indian films with a worldwide collection of Rs. 1200 crore.
