What happens when your husband’s sister returns home to stay with her family? Do you get concerned that the place you’ve tried to build for yourself in your husband’s home and family will get threatened? Do you feel worried that your in laws will side with their daughter and not the daughter-in-law? Do you worry that there will be constant interference in your space at home? Is this how it will turn out or can there be a better way for a Nanad & Bhabhi relationship?
Television is seen as a reflection of our changing society. As the society evolves, our relationships grow, mindsets change and redefine equations between family members. Star Plus, with its focus on nayi soch, has successfully brought shows that bring a fresh perspective to existing relationships. The Nanad-Bhabhi relationship is usually marred by some amount of mistrust, hesitation and gossip in the conventional Indian family. AT least that’s how TV shows and films have always generally portrayed it. Star Plus is now ready to launch a new show that explores a refreshing new take on the conventional Nanad-Bhabhi relationship in the Indian household. Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi Meri Bhabhi tells a refreshing and very positive story of a nurturing friendship between a Nanad and Bhabhi, one that is filled with support, love and care that it redefines archaic societal norms.
Meri Bhabhi is set around the Shergill family who reside in Delhi and the lead characters are Kritika Shergill (Bhabhi played by Esha Kansara) and Shraddha Shergill Sood (Nanad played by Kanchi Kaul). The Shergill household is headed by Zorawar Shergill (played by Kawaljeet Singh) and Amrit Shergill (played by Supriya Pilgaonkar). The story showcases the dutiful bond between Kritika and Shraddha and how Kritika takes immense care of Shraddha and makes it her responsibility to resurrect Shraddha back to life after her failed marriage. Such a bond has never been highlighted on a TV show until now – and with this show Star Plus gets ready to explore the strength and love of sister-in-laws.
“Star Plus is at the forefront of change, bringing to life stories that appropriately capture an evolving society and intricately reflect the aspirations of its people. While a few stereotypes don’t change, we are certain that relationships in the Indian household are constantly evolving. The Nanad-Bhabhi bond hasn’t as yet got its due on TV which prompted us to break free from the conventions and explore positives of this bond. Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi - Meri Bhabhi blends beautifully with the Star Plus ideology – Rishta Wahi Soch Nayi,” says Nachiket Pantvaidya, General Manager, Star Plus.
The show is produced by DJ’s A Creative Unit and features veteran artists like Kawaljeet Singh & Supriya Pilgaonkar amongst many others. The situations in the show are modern, circumstances are current and the decisions made are also progressive. The show is a breath of fresh air with lovable characters and relatable stories and it will entice viewers with its part-modern, part-traditional narratives. Every viewer will find his family within the Shergill household.
Tony & Deeya Singh of DJ's A Creative Unit said, "We have had a very nice and successful association with Star Plus over the years. The bond will grow stronger and better with this show that portrays an unlikely pair of Nanad and Bhabhi, who are solutions to each other's problems. We are sure that the show will be successful and well-appreciated by the viewers."
Meri Bhabhi will launch on 17 June at 8 pm and will air daily from Monday to Friday.
